About Us

Who is United Way of Junction City/Geary County?  Depending on where you work, shop, or spend your off time, your answer may be varied.  For some, United Way of Junction City/Geary County is where you go to get your taxes done for free, or the person you call to rake your leaves.   For others, they may not know our name, but they have seen the good that we can create.

So what does United Way of Junction City/Geary County do?  Our office puts on several events each year that provides support to the community.  Stuff the Bus brings in monetary donations as well as school supplies that are then distributed to USD 475 and St. Xavier, to be used for the students.  Day of Caring brings together over 50 volunteers who then go out into the community and provide basic yard services to the elderly and disabled.  Our VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program, provides free tax preparations for those who qualify, in Geary County.  When COVID hit our community in March of 2020, we saw that our neighbors, friends, families, strangers, were struggeling to get food.  So, we rolled out our Meal Kits, and provided over 20,000 meals to those in need.  In August of 2021, we were awarded a grant that made it possible to provide Dolly Parton Imagination Library, for the first year.

United Way of Junction City/Geary County also provides support to 9 different agencies within Geary County.  These agencies provide services to residents in Geary County, your neighbors, family members, friends, classmates, or co-workers.  We support programs that cover all ages, financial backgrounds, ethnicities, religious beliefs, and cultures.  From the Junction City Family YMCA’s 4th Grade Swim program to the Food Pantry, Crisis Center, or even the Special Olympics, United Way of Junction City/Geary County encompasses all walks of life.  Our partner agencies are: Big Brothers/Big Sisters, CASA of the 8th Judicial, Crisis Center, Food Pantry, Girl Scouts, Junction City Family YMCA, Kansas Legal Services, Pawnee Mental Health Services, and the JC Pacesetters/Special Olympics.

In order for the United Way of Junction City/Geary County to continue to provide services and assistance to the community, we need your help.  We cannot do this without YOU!

It is not enough to feed a hungry family or protect a child from violence; we need to change the conditions that led to hunger and violence in the first place. We work together with businesses, government, schools, faith groups, the media, individual community members, and nonprofits - because it takes the whole community to get the kind of results we need. We believe in advancing the common good through a strategic focus on the building blocks of a good life - education, financial stability, health and basic needs. The ability to effect positive change begins with a single act: your decision to give in a way that matters to you. Whether money, time, or your voice; your action is combined with those of your neighbors and together with the power to make an impact is multiplied. The generosity of our donors enables us to provide grants for outcome-based programs and collaborative projects that address core needs and achieve lasting, measurable results.

Together, we can make a difference!

Together we can LIVE UNITED!
