Disaster Response: Disaster response is one of the primary functions of the Red Cross. Assistance is given to all victims of disaster, both natural and manmade, with complete impartiality and neutrality. This assistance includes: shelter, food, clothing, medical and metal health care. Help is also provided to give victims access to various community resources such as: employment, education, housing, child care, etc. To make this assistance always available, the Red Cross trains volunteers throughout the year at monthly meetings and special training events.

Through innovative summer programming, Boys & Girls Clubs of Junction City- Geary County helps young people explore hobbies, develop new talents, and practice the skills they need for success in school and life.

Scouting is a comprehensive, age-appropriate, youth development program with 27 separate grass-roots groups in Geary County. During this past year, Scouting served 951 youth in Geary County thanks to the 244 caring adult role models who help organize weekly activities for the local youth. Scouting is based on six tenets including mentoring, healthy living, life- long learning, character development, service to others and faith traditions. Geary County is one of the 32 counties served by the Coronado Area Council headquartered in Salina, Kansas.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) are trained volunteers who advocate for children who are going through the court system because of abuse and/or neglect. CASAs are their voice. They also monitor services the child is to receive because of court orders to insure the child receives those services. CASAs interview everyone in the child's life and make recommendations to the court in the best interests of the child.

Troop Programs are the conventional method for providing learning opportunities to girls, ages 5-17, in partnership with adult leaders. Troops meet on a regular basis to plan and carry out age level appropriate activities specifically designed to help girls achieve their personal goals. The council provides local girls and adult volunteers with staff support in community organizations, volunteer recruitment, screening, placement and training, council sponsored events and learning experiences for young women.

Fourth Grade Learn to Swim/Water Safety: This program is designed to prevent drowning, to help each child to become aware of water safety, survival techniques and swimming skills. It is also designed to acquaint the student with water safety and teach the skills to put these tools to work.

The Food Pantry provides food to those families and individuals who are in need and meet the qualifications, especially the elderly, the military, and families with small children. It also provides food in emergency situations.

KLS is a not-for-profit law firm. The local office provides basic legal services in a four-county area that includes Geary County. Services include domestic law, income maintenance, elder law, farm debtor assistance, mediation and general legal assistance in many areas. KLS seeks funding specifically to expand services to victims of domestic violence and disabled persons - two of the most vulnerable and underserved groups of the local population.

Konza?s main patient population is the uninsured low-income population. Pharmaceuticals for immediate medical needs is a major challenge. Currently, Konza has a contract with pharmacists to supply medication to eligible Konza patients. These medications are dispensed for short periods of time, i.e., one month. Patients must be enrolled in the Medication Assistance Program (formerly known as the Indigent Drug Program) at Konza.
